Aluminium 2014 is a heat-treatable alloy that mainly consists of aluminum (Al) with a notable copper content (Cu ~4.4%), along with silicon (Si), manganese (Mn), magnesium (Mg), and iron (Fe). It boasts impressive tensile strength (up to 483 MPa) and yield strength (up to 414 MPa), along with excellent machinability, although it does have lower corrosion resistance. This alloy is known for its good fatigue resistance and is often utilized in the aged (T6) temper for enhanced strength. While it can be welded with the right techniques, it’s generally more suited for mechanical joining or riveting.
