Stainless Steel 317L Tubing is an austenitic alloy made up of chromium, nickel, and molybdenum, featuring a low carbon content that enhances its resistance to chemical attacks, particularly from sulfurous, acetic, and tartaric acids. This alloy typically contains around 18–20% chromium, 11–15% nickel, and 3–4% molybdenum, with a maximum carbon content of 0.03%. On the mechanical side, it offers impressive tensile strength of about 75 ksi (515 MPa) and yield strength of 30 ksi (205 MPa), along with excellent elongation and formability. These characteristics make it ideal for high-temperature and high-corrosion environments, especially in applications where welding is necessary without the risk of intergranular corrosion.
