Stainless Steel 422 Tubing has 12–14% chromium, 0.2–0.3% carbon, and other elements such as molybdenum, vanadium, and tungsten to increase strength and resistance to creep. Its tensile strength is up to 1035 MPa, with yield strength of approximately 690 MPa. SS 422 has good wear and hardness, usually up to 35 HRC after heat treatment, and it retains these properties at elevated temperatures, usually up to 650°C. Its martensitic composition enables good fatigue life in rotating machinery or thermal cycle service, making it suitable for turbine and structural applications.
