In general, carbon steel welded pipes have 0.10% to 0.30 percent carbon, 1.65% manganese, and trace amounts of silicon, phosphorus, and sulphur. When coated, these components offer good strength, weldability, and corrosion resistance. Depending on grade and thickness, mechanical properties include a tensile strength of 410–550 MPa and a yield strength of 240–350 MPa. Welded pipes provide consistent dimensional accuracy and uniform wall thickness. Welded pipes are affordable and sturdy enough for general structural and low-pressure fluid gearbox applications, even though they are not as strong as seamless pipes under high pressure.
