Typically, 90/10 (Cu-Ni) and 70/30 (Cu-Ni) alloys are used to make copper nickel tubing. 90% copper and 10% nickel make up the 90/10 grade, with trace amounts of iron and manganese added for strength and corrosion resistance. In harsh seawater conditions, the 70/30 alloy provides superior strength and resistance. Tensile strength of 300–500 MPa, yield strength of 100–200 MPa, and elongation ≥30% are examples of mechanical properties. The tubing is appropriate for demanding marine and heat transfer applications due to its exceptional thermal conductivity, formability, and resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion.
