Marine stainless steel pipes are generally produced with 316/316L stainless steel, which has 16–18% chromium, 10–14% nickel, and 2–3% molybdenum for improved corrosion resistance. Alloys exhibit superior resistance to chloride-induced corrosion, particularly pitting and crevice corrosion, typical in marine environments. Mechanical characteristics are tensile strength of 515 MPa, yield strength of 205 MPa, and high ductility for flexible installation. Furthermore, the pipes are non-magnetic, have good weldability, and provide long service life with minimum maintenance cost, even in submerged or splash zone uses.
