Stainless Steel 316 and 316L Instrumentation Tubing consists of iron, 16–18% chromium, 10–14% nickel, and 2–3% molybdenum, and features excellent corrosion resistance, particularly in chloride-rich situations. The low carbon “L” grade (316L) enhances weldability and reduces carbide precipitation, making it a great solution for welded systems. Mechanical properties are tensile strength of 515 MPa (316) and 480 MPa (316L) with an elongation of about 40%. The alloys exhibit pitting and crevice corrosion resistance, formability, and ease of fabrication, thus suited for high-pressure and precision-controlled applications.
