SS 317 Tubing is composed of 18–20% chromium, 11–15% nickel, and 3–4% molybdenum with less carbon content. The molybdenum enhances resistance to pitting and acid corrosion. The tubing offers tensile strength of approximately 515 MPa and yield strength of approximately 205 MPa. SS 317 possesses good ductility and weldability and maintains structural strength at high temperatures. Its improved corrosion resistance in sulfuric, acetic, and citric acids of the same concentration enhances its suitability over 316 in corrosive media. It is also non-magnetic in the annealed condition and operates well in high-pressure systems.
