SS 348 Pipes have 17–19% chromium, 8–11% nickel, and niobium (or columbium) to stabilize the structure against carbide precipitation. It provides a tensile strength of about 515 MPa and yield strength of about 205 MPa. SS 348 provides superior creep resistance and retains mechanical strength at high temperatures. The addition of niobium provides corrosion resistance during welding. It also shows good impact toughness and stress rupture properties, making it suitable for pressure and thermal cycling at high temperatures.
